a few years ago I worked for a really backwards district that had us there until june 12, with two weeks of what they called "flex days". Basically what it amounted to is the good kids who came to school and kept their grades up could exempt the last two weeks of school. We still had to show up along with the worst kids in the school for two straight weeks. They would go to their classes on a normal schedule, so we would have classes of like 1, 2 or 5 kids at a time, sometimes none. then we had to pass them if they showed up.
