Lately our country has been inundated with the argument of guns and, more importantly, guns in schools. Should we arm our teachers? Should we ban guns? I, personally, believe the answers are not as simple as Yes or No.
In 1995 a bomb went off in Oklahoma City. Would a gun in the front desk clerks possession have stopped it? In 1996 I was covering The Olympic Games in Atlanta when a bomb went off. Should the concession stand employees had a .357 Magnum under the cash register? How about that fateful morning in Colorado in 1999? Would the teachers have stopped the troubled young men in Columbine? Growing up in New York City I never worried about a terrorist attacking me or anyone that I knew. That changed on the morning of September 11th, 2001.
Moving on to more recent events, would these school shootings occur if teachers were, as the youth of today say, "packing heat" and authorized to use deadly force? I don't know about you, but I don't know that I could trust a man who plays with a football and blows a whistle all day with a gun in his hands. What kind of message are we sending to our young people? It's okay to take the life of another at a whim?
America. We need you to rise up in one voice. Rid the world of guns. The 2nd amendment was written over 200 years ago. It is invalid. Times have changed. The world has changed. I, as a journalist, but also as a father and a husband, believe that we must change with it. It's time to change the way control guns in this country.

haha. The bombing in OKC brought about regulations on access to fertilizer. Not banning, but regulating. Interesting don't you think.

I concur Blob...let's do away with the entire Bill or Rights starting with your First Amendment right of freedom of speech...we all clearly would be better served if you didn't have that right any longer. Signed all of America

I'm not here to argue, men. I just do not believe that firearms belong in the homes, vehicles, buildings, or on the person of John Q. Public. We need to tighten the reins on guns in our country. A trained police officer? A soldier in combat or defense of our great nation? Absolutely needs to have a gun. An everyday, run of the mill teacher or coach? This is not something that should be entertained by anyone. Owning a gun is a privilege, it should not be a right.
I have been all over the globe covering events such as The Olympic Games, Major League Baseball, and many other events. I have never seen gun violence in these other countries. Why? Guns aren't allowed! It is a simple solution. Do you think OJ Simpson kills his ex wife and her lover with a knife if guns aren't allowed? Guns are a part of mainstream America. Guns are romanticized in our movies and television, our magazines and our music.
Guns, in closing, do more bad than good. Please make sure you are part of the solution and not the problem. Thank you. And goodnight.

This guy shows up and I just get an alert that a teacher in Georgia is arrested for barricading himself in a school and shooting a gun. Maybe he has a point. If his pendulum swung about half way towards the right, I think it might be better.
