We do but they have a short leash. Better be in the weight room every day, giving great effort with a great attitude. See I wouldn't want them in the weight room. Next group needs to learn to lead in there. Less likely to do it with the Srs in there. JMHO. The idea of the weight room itself is to get ready for next years football season, or whatever your next season is. In that way, you are right. If we didn't have a good group of junior leaders in there now, this might be the case. We lift heavy 3 days a week(we use the Plt4m system). I work my track kids 2 days a week and baseball works theirs out 2 days a week too. I had my first track practice on Wednesday. Can't send off my seniors or baseball's seniors. They are still needed to lead. Difference in big and small schools I guess.

screwing off in different offseasons.
we'd have offseason for soccer, track, tennis, golf, baseball, softball, football, etc. kids going in different directions that wouldn't see the weightroom but a couple times a week.
now they're all in one offseason and in the weightroom every day.

We are in season in track. If you go to indoor meets, I could have started I think in Nov or even Oct. We are running 60 m hurdles and using blocks and running timed 300's for sprinters and timed 600's for middle distance. This is not offseason for us. We are all together 3 of 5 days and the other 2 we are getting ready to compete for another banner. Also throwing shot and right after the break, starting high jump and pole vault back up.

i think it's a good incentive to get kids into the weight room more. Thats where it stops as a good idea. If youre going to tell me the meets are worth a sh!t youre insane. The crap they put on now has gotten out of hand.

The crap they put on now has gotten out of hand. Been out of hand for awhile. Like I think one school taught to bench one side at a time and they ended up winning lifting state. Did it to take advantage of the rules. Many times kids are more into lifting than they are football at the good schools. Dumb.

EFD Rain sleet snow shine No Dr note Then they go practice their sport Game day only Varsity kids don’t lift run They go to their coach Anyone who misses wo will make it up in the mornings Lift and run them early in morning they will recover for games And don’t be stupid You can lift run and stretch on game day if you are smart and don’t kill them I know this is tough for many of you and parents and Sb nn’s Make the athletic period what it is an athletic period Once you get bb bb track vb ect periods it’s not an athletic period anymore it’s a sport period. Many communities will say they wanna win but won’t do this thinking Johnny gets better shooting 3’s during the period instead of being a better athlete Every single place I’ve been and others I know who implemented this got better in all sports. Won more and stayed successfull despite fluctuations in dna. This can be done in small and big schools with careful planning Many of you like Sb and community’s will think this is too tough So be it. The athletic period is for athletic improvement not to be a better thumper kick baller ect. This works No exceptions. Everyone. Now rag this Live up to expectations Domain V
