So you're saying that football players don't "fit" in a gym that works hand-eye coordination, cardio, teamwork, etc. in hoops.... OR they can't "fit" in a wrestling room that teaches balance, body control, toughness, etc.? This guy. This guy I like. Only 4.5 percent of D1 football Players participated in wrestling .

Body control, hand-eye coordination, flexibility, explosiveness, etc. Powerlifting... one direction movement. So no explosiveness to get big weight off ones chest? This guy. This guy I like. Only 4.5 percent of D1 football Players participated in wrestling . That might have been NFL or playoff starters , not sure . But the majority that played a second sport, did track, something like 70 percent did it as their second sport, followed by 14.9 doing basketball.

I wish all linemen would wrestle. It is amazing how much better their feet and hips become if they wrestle. Power lifting is fine. Gives kids a chance to compete that are not in another sport. But, I am all for multiple sport athletes. I want my entire schools athletic programs to be successful. And unless you are at the big schools (6A and a few 5A) then you need to share athletes for that to happen.

Kids should play multiple sports..... They get one high school career, each sport offers something for the kid.... Power Lifting is ok, but to me it is the last option

I bet most college coaches would rather see their kids doing multiple sports than seeing how much they can bench press once... I mean, they do rep tests at combines, right? Not 1 rep???

If manage right a kid can do basketball and PL and baseball and PL and track too. Every sport needs strength and speed. And you are right kids should play as many sports as possible "play" not sit the bench and be a bus rider steak eater because they are too scared and lazy to go through offseason Now on to you other guys that diss da lift. just because you compete in powerlifting does not mean that is how one trains. One does not need to change their training that they do in offseason football. Teach the commands and rules is all. Takes about 5 min per lift . And after kids see it live they catch on quick. And All the little new ideas that are coming out for speed and football conditioning , are really old powerlifting ideas and track ideas that have been combined. Example the stuff that joe defranco does and the bfs program.

And we all know the rep test is just something they still do because it is cool and looks good on tv. A med ball throw is a way better gage of power and explosiveness just like the vertical is. Of course you don't want a noodle out there playing but rep maxes and test are highly overrated. And a single really is too. Looking to see if a lineman or linebacker or fullback was good at shot or disc would be a better assessment.
