Full Board?? 2 Interviews?? 1 Interview?? been here long enough to see which way works best IMO. committee is a no go. especially if you have parents on it. to me, that's the supe's way of not taking it on the chin when the hire is a bust. IMO, it should be the supe, principal, and AD(unless AD will be part of deal to be HFB) conducting the interviews. get it down to 3 candidates.........then do a 2nd interview for those 3 with supe, principal, AD, and the board.

They narrowed it down to 5.

Its uncomfortable to interview with AD in the room if he was the last dude and you are selling how you are gonna make things better than when he was there.

I didn't handle it very diplomatically last time I was in the chair. Supe told me AD dude wasn't real happy with some of the way I phrased things. Not only didn't get the job, but we can't go to their track meets anymore.

Doesn't matter how a school district interviews you, all places are unique and different. The key is just figuring out how to get your foot in the door. They way of the world now is to involve all "stakeholders."

Got my first HC interview tomorrow. Place has athletes and a winning tradition, they just choke in playoffs. I don't really see myself getting the job, or taking it if offered. I was contacted by them about the job, didn't have any intentions of even applying for it. HC and AD at current place told me to go for the experience. Busted my tail all week to get everything typed up on how I would run a program.

It was the AD, HC, OC, Jr High Coord, and HS Principal. It was odd to say the least. The only guy in the room that had any clue about defense was the Jr.High coordinator, he was a DC for a big time program back in the day. We started talking X's and O's and everyone in the room became mouth breathers.
