I've been going non-stop, pretty much, since Thanksgiving was over. Practices, scrimmages, tournaments, non-district, district, and now playoffs about to start. And I appreciate the support, Rid, I would love to win a gold ball in another sport.

Because really there's no one crazy enough or stupid enough to go through all of that unless you have at least some love for the sport. Just sayin....

You make a valid point, Hands, but I also do what's right for the kids. I could be a slap coach that doesn't give a ^)$&*, but how would that benefit the kids? Do what's right for the kids and the entire program. That's the right thing to do.

Nothing wrong with that. It was probably attached to the position.

So it's safe to say it was a money deal?? You needed another sport to bump your check and soccer was your only choice.. In Texas, it's not about the stipend that makes you want to coach. It is highly unusual for a coach to only coach one sport, unless you are a head coach of some sport at a large school. Most jobs come as football and second sport. In lots of smaller schools, you may even coach three sports, so when the job comes open, you take what's offered.

Soccer can be a very physcial sport. It can be as physical as football in some instances, but without pads. And if played correctly, the ball is almost in motion, which means the players are always moving. Get you 90 minutes of running with a bunch of elbows and kicks to the nuts thrown in.

The ball is "almost" in motion? That would be a slow game wouldn't it? And the players away from the action aren't doing much running, that's when they are resting. It can be physical, and from the soccer I've watched the last few years, more physical wins 95 percent of the time.
