This is a shared message, this is not my own but I would assume this Administrator would not minding me spreading this message. Just want to see what some thoughts are.
This proposal is a plan to reconcile the inequities that I believe exists in the current classifications without major changes to the current classification plan. This would only effect class 2A and A and would bring the number of students from the top of any class to bottom of any class to a more even amount with the exception of 6A-1 where the top school (Broken Arrow) has over 5,000 students from the top to the bottom school Enid with roughly 1,800 students. This plan will afford smaller schools who wish to continue playing 11 man football the opportunity to compete with schools of similar size without having to compete with schools who have almost 60% more students. This plan also allows for equity between all classes in terms of the number of teams in each class. Class 2A and 1A currently have 64 (2A) and 66 (1A) as opposed to other classes who have a maximum number of either 48, 32, or 16 teams to compete against in their respective classes. I would ask when reviewing this plan to look at what is best for Oklahoma Football and not what best meets the need of your school. It does not solve the inequities that exists in 6A-1, but I do not at present have a solution to that issue. Some of you who are much smarter than I can better answer that question. I would also encourage anyone who has a better idea to share that with OFBCA advisory board as well as with the OSSAA leadership. I believe any change needs to be one that is upfront between both organizations for there to be any chance of passage. This discrepancy really got my attention when realizing 7 of the quarter-finalists in Class A had ADM's of 190 or greater and the 8th team had an ADM of 185. I am proposing putting the top 48 teams in 2A and splitting Class A into 2 divisions. 1A Division 1 would have 48 teams comprised from the bottom of 2A and the top of Class A, and 1A Division 2 would have the remaining 34 teams from the bottom of Class A (See bottom). Again, I would ask each of you when making up your minds look at what is in best interest of Oklahoma Football. We current have several years to process the information we have and too put a plan together that best meets the needs of all football playing schools. Thanks for your time and consideration.
