I, personally, have never heard the term 'GA' associated with a HS graduate volunteering to help out a HS or college program. I've seen volunteers come out to help for the reasons already mentioned, but have never encountered the term GA for it.

I was a GA at an NAIA school and I had full-time duties. I coached a position group, conducted position meetings, had a recruiting area, and I also was the financial aid liaison for my position group.

The Goat defines a HS Lay Coach as an individual who coaches paid or unpaid, but does not or has not worked full time in Education. G.A. a lay coach college student or resent grad coaching and planning to enter the profession as a teach and coach
