Give me your best story about an athlete's parent that left you speechless. Leave names out so we don't hurt anyone's feelings. GO!

Had a RB once that truth be known should not have been playing much for us. But as so often happens we played the kid(rotated every three series of offense) because he did everything right and it normally didn't hurt us. Then comes a game that he hurt us. Our QB had gotten injured in the first half and we were losing at halftime. The team we were playing were very athletic so the slow kid couldn't help us win that night. In the 2nd half we don't attempt a pass and rush for 350 yards and score 5 tds. After the game his Dad(on demands from his wife) came and yelled about how bad a coach and person I was because I'd hurt his sons feelings. Two things of note 1. Son didn't feel this way 2. Son knew going into the game that this could happen. Dad was mad because son tried to insert himself into the game when one of our RBs got winded and I removed him and yelled for the other RB of 3 we rotated. The other RBs Mom and the slow kids Mom apparently hated each other so I embarrassed Momma. The best part is when he is yelling about me I was in the shower and missed the whole thing. My brother and the head coach were pissed when I came into the office.

I had a parent invite me to the parking lot to fight once. I let him know I’m no longer in high school.

That's a good one! Had a kid that was a pretty good ball player, but he was a 5'6 145 linebacker that ran a 5.0 40. To make matters worse, he was about a smart as a box of hammers. He had really good game against a pretty weak opponent and the kid was over the moon about it. I was happy for him. Next day, his dad, who was the same size, came up after our Saturday lift and asked when OU was going to offer his son. At this point, I didn't know if he was joking, pulling my leg, or serious so I said, "When is OU going to offer what?" Without missing a beat and as serious as a heart attack, he said "A scholarship. I mean he had almost 20 tackles last night!" I couldn't tell still if he was kidding, so I asked him "Sir, what do you think the requirements are for getting a scholarship offer to play linebacker at OU?" He said, "Well I know he is small and slow, but he makes up for that in heart!" Now I could tell he was dead serious at this point and I said, "Sir, you know to go play college ball, your son is going to have to have a 2.5 GPA and an 18 on his ACT, right?" He said, "h3ll, Dexter Manley played OSU and he couldn't even read!" I stood there stunned and after a moment I said, "Sir, your son is no Dexter Manley!" He said, "Your dam right. My son can read and Dexter Manley never had 20 tackles in game!" I tried to speak at this point and words wouldn't come out of my mouth! I stood there trying to digest everything for what seemed like years and finally said, "Sir, have you been drinking this morning?" He said, "Well h3ll yes I've been drinking since after the game last night. Would you like a beer? I declined but I was amazed that other than his overinflated view of his kid, what a functional drunk he was! Hard to even type it out as I am still in shock almost 20 years later.

We had parents in the land of the rufnex that told all of us coaches to kill ourselves during a football game one night.

had a kid several years ago, who in my opinion, was probably one of the best pure athletes we've ever had.
his downside? he was a straight run coward. wouldn't hit you to save his own life.
anywho.....this kid, and his daddy, insisted that he was a QB. so we gave him some reps in practice and some reps in our first scrimmage at QB. basically just to prove a point.
when this kid threw a football, it looked like he was trying to lob grenades. just awful. uncoachable about his throwing motion, uncoachable about how to find open receivers, everything.
suffice it to say, he didn't get reps in games at QB no more because he couldn't throw the ball, and when we involved him in the QB run game, he would lay down or run out of bounds in order to avoid a hit. even did that when we put him at receiver. didn't dare play him on defense.
rest of the story........after about game 4 with no reps at QB, daddy feels the need to berate not only the HC, but also the rest of the staff. in front of the other players. in front of the other parents. and in front of the administration that had all gaggled around the locker room after the game. he proceeds to tell everyone that his kid should be playing QB because he was, and i quote, "the best QB at all his private 7-on-7 league games that he had shuttled him around to last summer."
without skipping a beat....the dad of one of our linemen says "yeah, but he's a poosy!"
he got laughed out of the stadium. never saw him again, and the kid transferred to a smaller school the week after. last i heard the kid was changing oil and tires at the local wal-mart.

No contact at the Wal-Mart Tires & Lube! Some kids just won't be physical. My kid lives for it. I have to tell him it is ok to cut and juke some of the time! He runs like an old school fullback even while playing QB. Makes his dad pretty proud!

I had 2 starters skip practice and lie about where they went. The softball coach tells me the next morning they were at the softball game. I caught 2 doing the same thing. I sent them home at the bell and suspended them both for the game Friday night. District game both kids 2 way starters. 1 Mom and Dad are at the field after practice. Mom says I singled her son out. "No I caught 2 of them and they got the same punishment." I refrained from telling her she didn't do math to good.

The old "you've singled out my son, along with these other players" trick!? That is a good one!

That is a shame that unintelligent people like that(people who are loud and obnoxious) can eventually cause enough problems to make an impact on a guy's job where he is just trying to help kids and provide for his family. It happens too much! Spineless, jellyfish admin is where the real problem lies boys!
