They were way up on the concussion list as well kenny. Yep and most of the time those happen DURING games.

Would any of you be OK with one of your athletes playing another sport during your season? That's what she's asking to do. I don't blame the thump thump coach at all. Nope. Track shape and baseball are not the same. If a kid I know has a chance of getting and/or placing at state, why would I risk him hurting his ankle sliding into 2nd to just run bases. A guy I coached with and was a baseball coach was doing this. I won the argument and he stopped using his kid in baseball. Wrestling and basketball can't happen. Scheduling and the shape needed for wrestling is completely different, as is mentality. Wrestling is Ghey

I don't have a problem with Girl playing a game then going to cheer during the boys game. That is the issue here. Agreed. At a school as small as Dale, two sports during the same season could be done easily, I assume. If the girls is not good enough to contribute in both sports, you as the coach, have the right to cut her playing time. Seems easy to me.

But cheerleading is not a sport! Tell that to the OSSAA. Cheerleading is one of their biggest money makers. If I'm the thump thump coach, I would not want my player practicing TWICE a day (cheer and thump/thump). This only increases the chance of injury. I would want my athletes fully on board, not splitting their efforts between two teams. If they don't have the routine down by basketball season, then your squad sucks!

In my opinion, at the small school level, not only do you have to pick and choose your battles, but every kid needs to be able to participate in these things if they are good enough to do so regardless of when that season is. Is it the girl's fault that the seasons are the same?? If my daughter was good enough to do both then I would let her. You aren't going to get hurt standing under a basketball goal clapping your hands and waving at the crowd. That's what you think cheerleading is? It is one of the MOST injury prone sports/activities. My wife coached it for over 10 years. Cheerleading today is not what we remember from HS. Yes it is, but half the stuff they do that they get hurt in, is illegal to do on a basketball court! Or on the sidelines on a track! Pretty sure all district competitions are in October....
