So we're getting rid of our boys basketball coach and filing it internally. As it was being discussed to let the coach go our head FB coach was offered the position, he said probably but would have to think about it, talk about it with his family. So the amin pulls the trigger gets rid of the thump thump and assistant thump thump, saving close to 65K in salary. When they officially offer him the position they tell him he won't have an assistant and will only get half the money the current guy is getting. Obviously he says no. The supe/principal begins to tell him that he's not being a team player and he's done so much for football the last two years, hinting that he's not going to spend any more money on football. Our principal/AD is a former big time coach but he is at the end of his career and doesn't care about much anymore. The DC and I have told him to hold on because the amin will be changing soon, I'm probably going to be the next HS principal but if they're not careful they're going to run off a very good young coach.

OHHHHH. Budget cuts here have put a lot of weird things on the table. Somebody has to coach it. They probably offered it to the guy on staff with most BB experience.

BS...that has nothing to do with being a team player...screw your supe/principal/AD...they are trying to take advantage of your hfbc...

And if no assistant, either a partial, or let HFBC find a lay guy and he gets to dole out 1 or 2 K to him. Still saves the school money. |

That sounds like a bad situation. I was in Tuttle a few years ago and something similar happened. Bad deal for everyone involved.
