Hey, just wondering if y'all have any tips for interviewing at the larger schools. I'm headed to Frisco tomorrow and meeting w AP and Department head first. Have any of y'all brought sample lesson plans, etc? I'm confident, but haven't interviewed at a district that big with that much emphasis on education honestly.

If you are interviewing with those then yes I would. I'd bring an example lesson using technology too. I'd really play up how you use technology even if it's BS!!

I would bring all you have. We used to have to make PDAS folders that had examples of our parent contacts, lesson plans, etc. It was a great resume as well.

Think of how you will handle discipline questions pertaining to classes of 27-30, how do you arrange kids in the room? How will you use an inclusion teacher. That's the question that threw me for a loop when I moved up. I answered, "I don't have any idea what an inclusion teacher is."

Also be prepared to talk about what you will bring to the table in a PLC, planning with 5 other teachers doing the exact same class. They might ask how do you plan to make it a smooth transition when a kid is moved from one class to the other.

If you have a lesson plan book, take it. If you have sample lessons in folders, take em.

been down this road 3 different times now and it's honestly just a matter of knowing the demographics you'd be working with when you walk in the door. in my experience you actually have less headaches than you do at a smaller school where you wear a ton of different hats. more staff equals less bs stuff for you to do. In the interview you'll need to have a legit answer addressing the following things: 1. teaching diverse population 2. discipline in that diverse population 3. sped 4. differentiated instruction 5. technology in classroom 6. balancing teaching and coaching 7. what does your class look like 8. vertical and horizontal alignment/plc
if you're prepared to address those things you'll be just fine.

I'm surprised I got called for an interview. But I do have some bomb @$$ references...liked all the academic and athletic people.
