With the use of such great tools such as SkyCoach, Hudl Sideline, (or whatever you use)...are you using your coaches in the pressbox any differently. In my opinion, the traditional job of the coaches in the booth have been made almost obsolete.

But, a good pressbox guy is always great to have during a series!!

I was up in the box this year, Constantly had the ipad going. Could it make them obsolete, sure I guess, but I think it makes them even better.

Good question. I definitely think your guy up there has to be really good with personnel coming on or off with the opposing offense, and a guy thats really good with being able to tell you what a team is doing up front if it's anything different from what you've seen on film all week.

Defensive fronts and how are they using their safeties as opposed to what was done previously gives you an idea of things that will be more effective. Need a guy up there with a feel for the game, and someone not eating nachos in your ear.

We don't have these sideline systems in Texas. Our box guys need to be good.

It's all the same really. Instead of using a pencil he is using a tablet! And he has video to refer back to.

In my opinion.....speaking from the offensive side of the ball.....I have seen the conversation on the headset go down considerably between series. During the series....it's the same.

Our box guy is still just as important during the series as he was before we got replay. Still has to talk personnel, DND, hash, red flags, etc. Between series, I think it has actually brought more communication on our headsets. Each position coach can get an ipad and look at what is happening, and they we start discussing all that is necessary, rather than basically just me and the pressbox guy talking back and forth.

It doesn't really affect me as I am listening to OC and signaling in formation and play while we have the ball. Our OC is in the box, so we talk after our series is over.
