My definition of a sport: 1. Any activity where you have to play defense 2. Any activity where you are racing against time.
By my definition Powerlifting is NOT a sport

My definition of a sport: 1. Any activity where you have to play defense 2. Any activity where you are racing against time. By my definition Powerlifting is NOT a sport Powerlifting is an auxillary sport. Its meant to help other sports. I dunno if you are allowed to do this but if you are a male and only do powerlifting......you dont do powerlifting.

By my definition Powerlifting is NOT a sport What about certain events in track like high jump or long jump? You don't play defense and there is no race against time. Also, going to add to the definition: Can't compete at a high level while drunk. Eliminates golf and bowling.

John Daly played some solid golf while hammered.... Ernie McCrakin could probably still win it all while shammerd in bowling. May even improve his game.

I think a "sport" has to be measurable. Anything that requires judges to give a score based on their opinion is not a sport...it's a contest. I think participants are "athletes" (most of the time), but it's not a sport. For example....diving is not a sport. Seeing how many flips they can do before hitting the water would make it a sport. Gymnastics is not a sport...seeing how fast they can do their floor routine would make it a sport.

Lets go back to back to Strongdog's original criteria. Play defense or race against time. Chess competitions do both. Justing saying. Lol

Golf and Raquetball or both measurable, they keep score against one another. I will also add, which I thought was assumed, that physical activity takes place (disqualifying chess). Car racing and Horse Racing are sports.....for cars and horses.

Speaking of golf, remember when chikin told the epic story about whipping TCB in golf while wearing Longhorn flip flops? I remember when he lied about it.
