Lots of hate on the OSSAA going on... But tell me, do any of you have a better solution? If they aren't running things, the State Dept. will be and we definitely don't want that. Way I see it, these are the cards we are dealt. Worry about the things we can control, and forget the rest. No use in complaining about everything. So we should just tell the OSSAA thank you and take our medicine? BS Then get out there and make some changes.

Jim Dixon suggested it years ago but no administration had the balls to support him.

Better solution is to govern ourselves under the OFBCA Football for sure!

Let's face it. Without the playoff revenue from football, most of the other sports would crumble because they aren't financially sustained without it.
The OFBCA running football and giving the playoff revenue back to the schools would be awesome for our sport, but admin wouldn't let us keep the money for our programs anyway. It would go to fund all other sports. Plus, eligibility issues need to be handled by someone with no dog in the fight, an impartial entity.
I don't want the OSSAA screwing things up and I don't want the state dept. in control either. The only viable option is the get the superintendents to leave the OSSAA and start something better that actually serves our schools the way they should be served, with honor, integrity, and with a shred of decency and common sense.

The biggest money maker for OSSAA is basketball playoffs. That is why everyone goes to the playoffs

Previous school, football income, funded everything

Basketball playoffs make the most money. The OSSAA pays you next to nothing for hosting their playoff games! Basketball is very profitable for the OSSAA.
During my stint as AD, the only thing we made money on were football games, basketball games, and hosting a trackmeet. Every other contest, after you paid officials and workers, usually ran in the red. That being said, we functioned with zero money from the general fund. By year two, we were back on our feet and doing ok.

Football is the only sport you have to qualify for to be in the playoffs. That makes more sense now that I think about it. Thats why so many thump thump coaches run around like they're God's gift to coaching. They make the playoffs every year.

To me, you don't make the "playoffs" until you qualify for the state tourney!!

Everyone still plays in a bi-district series.

4a and up in baseball do now Nope. Everyone still plays in a bi-district series. Pretty sure this is the first year U have to be in the top 4. They added 4a this year, and 5a/6a a while back, like 4 years ago?
